Peikko delivers foundation reinforcements to Ajos Wind Park in Kemi, Northern Finland

Peikko Group’s Finnish subsidiary Peikko Finland Oy has received an order for foundation technology for Ajos Wind Park in Kemi. The order comprises foundation design and foundation components. The deliveries are scheduled between end of April and beginning of July. The foundation construction starts in May and will be finished by the end of September.

The developer of the project is OX2. The construction of the wind park is made by Empower. Siemens delivers to Ajos 5 pieces of WT-3.2MW-113 turbines with hub heights of 92.5 meters, and 8 pieces of SWT-3.3MW-130 turbines with hub heights of 85 meters. The turbine installations take place in autumn 2016 and the wind park will be operational by the end of 2017. “Eight turbines are constructed on artificial islands, which makes Ajos wind park a particularly challenging construction project”, states Juha Lamberg, Director at Empower PN Oy.

”We are glad to be again cooperating with Empower in a wind park project. We have continued to optimize the amounts of steel and concrete used in our wind turbine foundation according to changing load-bearing capacities of different soil conditions. Cost effectivity combined with a flexible design-production-delivery chain was decisive in this project”, explains Esa Rusila, Managing Director of Peikko Finland Oy.
